How many sets per body part are you doing in a full body workout? For instance former pro bodybuilder Phil hernon advocated full body workouts every day, but only one set to failure. For me, it's a little too low volume even for such high frequency. I like to take a set to the burn, take a few breaths and go again for about 3 to 4 sets

You’re definitely right. I typically do 3 to 4 sets per exercise each workout. At some point, even taking a single set to failure, you will need more volume to see further progress. You have to take elite bodybuilding advice with a grain of salt because for every bodybuilder that gives that advice there is another that might recommend 10 sets per workout. And I hate to say it, but many of their experiential findings are muddied by taking anabolics. Turns out, almost everything works when you’re juicing, but does the advice hold across people that are natural and have varying levels of hypertrophic capacity? That’s the question.
